In the event that you need to do set a path environment on your Mac or even a Linux/Unix environment where you need access to various commands in various bin folders, it is best to set the path as follows:
What you do is first echo out the path by issuing the following command:
This will give you an output that looks something like this:
leo:/ leodadderio$ echo $PATH
Once you have the path outputted, you simply modify the path by adding your path to your new unix installation where you need access to a /bin folder and execute the export command with the path string pattern as indicated above and you will have ready access to the /bin folder commands.
