Navajo Mission Trip

Mission Org: Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church

Summary of Service: Students will be working at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church on the Navajo reservation with CUI alumnus and missionary pastor Rev.Tim Norton where they will get the chance to engage in cross-cultural missionary learning. Throughout the trip, students will learn more about Navajo culture and discover the ongoing challenges to gospel proclamation within a Native American context. Students will primarily learn about Navajo culture through relational conversations with members of the church regarding the Navajo language and cultural practices, and secondarily by traveling and visiting culturally relevant sites that are important to the Navajo people. In order to better understand the challenges to gospel proclamation on the reservation, students will be participating in planned Christian education events at the church with the children in the community.
